Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I want to make sure I’m covered under my car warranty, do I have to go to the dealer to be covered for maintenance?

A: You do not have to go to the dealer. In Pennsylvania, they cannot deny your warranty if you go to an independent shop. In your owner’s manual that comes with your car, we can sign and attest to the fact that we followed the factory scheduled maintenance plan to give you peace of mind. At D’Avicos, we will check with your dealer and see if anything is covered under warranty, and, if it is, we will take it there for you.

Q: How often do I really need to have my oil changed?

A: Generally, you have to get your oil changed every 3500 miles for cars that take regular oil and every 6000 miles for cars that take synthetic oil. Having said that, each car takes different types of oil. So depending on your vehicle, it can be anywhere from 3500-6000 miles. Oil changes are the cheapest and easiest thing you can do to maintain your vehicle. We recommend keeping up with them as frequently as possible to keep your car in the best condition possible.

Q: How much should I be paying for oil changes?

A: At D’Avicos, we are not the cheapest option but we are also not the most expensive. Our oil changes are anywhere between 35-75 dollars depending upon the make and model of your vehicle. Having said that, we pride ourselves on our expert servicing and thorough inspection of our vehicle during your oil change. We give top-quality servicing at an affordable rate.

Q: How do I know if my vehicle needs to be maintained with synthetic oil changes?

A: Most newer cars call for synthetic oil. Older cars don’t, but synthetic oil is really worth the extra few dollars. Synthetic oil lasts longer and is more durable, if you run low or over on your change. If you fine yourself constantly running late on your oil changes, synthetic may be a good option to your you and your vehicle.

Q: Should I keep maintaining my car or buy a new one?

A: Before deciding if you should get a new car or keep your old one, we’d recommend doing a thorough inspection. At D’Avicos, we do a multi-point inspection and take that into account, as well as any records of past servicing and vehicle history. If we don’t know the history on your car, we will happily inspect it and give you our expert, honest opinion.

Q: How often should windshield wiper blades be replaced?

A: For most vehicles, windshield wiper blades should be replaced every 6-12 months. However, replacement depends various factors, such as: weather, climate, and usage frequency. Wiper blades should be checked during every oil change to ensure that they are functioning properly and not cracking or streaking your glass.

Q: How much should a water pump cost?

A: Water pump costs differ per vehicle. Sometimes your timing belt needs to be replaced with your pump, or perhaps your radiator if it is leaking or cracked and causing the issue. We would need to do an inspection of your vehicle in order to give you a definite answer. We want to start our relationship off on the right foot, so we would need you to bring in your vehicle so we can accurately quote you a price for your specific servicing needs.
